Definition


A type of repair that fills a flaw that extends through the full thickness of the metal wall, for example those as those that occur with the removal of core pins and armature rods. Plugs are often threaded in order to mechanically lock them in place. (See Vol. 1ch. 4).

Note: It is not always easy to distinguish a plug from a patch. Radiography is often necessary.
