A type of repair consisting in a localized cast of molten copper alloy to fill cavities or other casting defects. Cast-on repairs may be used to fill a void in the sculpture or secure a separately formed patch or element to the cast (See Vol. 1 ch. 4).
Note: The shortened term ‘cast-on’ is used to refer to a type of join in which molten metal is used to join parts that were intentionally cast in sections.
