A 3-D negative form made of one or more parts that serves as a matrix for the production of a positive by casting or pressing malleable material into it. Molds allow for the production of one or more copies of an original sculpture.
Note: Molds of varying types may be used at different stages of the bronze casting process (e.g., to make a pattern, a wax inter-model, a core, and to cast a bronze). (See Vol. 1, Ch. 1 for more information.).
