Definition


A general term for any model or a replica of the artist’s model that is used to make a mold. They are made by the foundry in order to preserve the artist’s model. A foundry model may also be used as a reference for the finishing of a bronze for the purpose of quality control.

Note: In sand casting, a foundry model is referred to as a pattern or chef-modèle.
