Definition

In bronze sculpture, a technique for joining separately cast parts or repairs or filling casting defects by localized addition of a molten copper alloy of slightly lower melting temperature than that of the cast. Unlike welding, the contact zones of the sections that are to be joined are not brought to a molten stage.
